Blue Hawaii Surf was started in 1984 as one of Hawaii’s premiere surfboard companies. Shapers such as Glenn Minami, Wes Oshiro, Ben Aipa, and Ernie Tanaka were providing innovative and state of the art equipment for some of the top surfers in the world. These surfers included World Champ Martin Potter along with Dane Kealoha, Sunny Garcia, Johnny Boy Gomes, Mark Foo, Ross Williams, and Braden Diaz to name just a few. From the mid 80’s on into the mid 90’s Blue Hawaii Surf was an unstoppable machine. Each one of these individuals as well as others involved with Blue Hawaii Surf at the time layed down the foundation for those of us who are here with Blue Hawaii Surf today. They will always be a part of our history and we are forever grateful to have had them pave the way for us. Around 1997 the surf industry landscape started to change dramatically and fewer and fewer surfers were walking into shops to pick up their surfboards because of other alternative options to buying boards. Having no other option but to change with the times or be gone, Blue Hawaii Surf opted out of the surfboard manufacturing business and into surf retail. Putting the same passion and philosophy that was used to build world class surfboards, we carried that philosophy into surf retail. Working with the top surf, skate, and lifestyle companies out there and offering a selection next to none, Blue Hawaii Surf is once again at the top. Our company has evolved since then into more of an active supporter of all things skate, art and surf .We specialize in brands and fashions that share the same vision and passion that we do. Today Blue Hawaii Surf consist of 3 divisions: Blue Hawaii Surf, Eighty Four Skate Co. and the Blue Hawaii Gallery. Each of these divisons are actively involved in the surf, skate, and art community. 2009 marks 25 years of “Hangin’ Loose in Hawaii” for us here at Blue Hawaii Surf. Mahalo to all who SUPPORT LOCAL skate/surf shops. Without your support we couldn’t do what we do.
Aloha
