my name is kenneth brimer. in august i was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia at age 36 ...
its a devastating thing that could happen to anyone ...
for myself, there is no doubt in my mind that i can't kick this... thru faith, all things are possible ...
i want to make it thru this and be an example for others in similar situations ...
it is important to have a positive outlook in life and to surround yourself with good people ...
its the only way you could mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually survive it ..
i'm a hopeful candidate for a bone marrow transplant, being placed on the bone marrow registry soon...
been thru 2 doses of chemo.. chances are strong .. my body is fighting the leukemia pretty good ...
there's no way i'm going to let this illness take away my dreams and livelihood ...
it also takes the help and support of others like yourself, to help me get thru this ...
i've lived in hawaii most of my life. i've been skateboarding most of my life...
its how i love to live life- being active and living free ...
i plan to keep on living and skateboarding in hawaii for the next 36 years, & more ...

Running for a cause

Dear all,
This Sunday is my 6th Marathon, but my feeling is like I run first time since I am reborn again from deadly disease this June, I run for two peoples this time, one is my dad who pass away Jan.1 this year and one for my friend Kenneth Brimer who is fight for his life. Great news is he do find match, please see below e-mail he sent to me, now he need raise 30k out of his pocket after insurance pay off. With the prayers and the positivity i have received from everyone i have found a match
for my bone marrow transplant. On Nov.11th the City of Hope hospital contacted me to
inform me that they have found a match for me. Not only did they find 1 match but they
found 300 matches for me. I am blessed, this doesn't happen very often. I wish everyone
who needed this procedure could find 1000 matches, it's not easy when your future is not
clear. There are no clouds in the sky and i can see where my future is headed, a full recovery.
I want to thank everyone involved. Through donations and moral support, you are the strength
that fuels my recovery.

Boardjunkies Review

This past Friday December 4th 2009 the Blue Hawaii Gallery along with Eighty Four Skate Co. held an exhibit featuring the board collection of BDK also known as Mike Kays. Mike is a very passionate collector as well as the man behind the Hickam Hanger Skatepark. The exhibit featured over 100 boards 3 decades old as well as numerous skate memorabilia. The collection was unique because every board, wheel, and truck had been sessioned at some backyard ramp, some secret ditch or pool, or some random curb back in the day. Each piece has a story to tell of yesteryear when skateboarding was so different from today. The exhibit brought many of Hawaii’s skateboards from past and present to Kalihi to enjoy and share stories about skateboarding and how it’s made an impact in their lives.
Along with the exhibit was the release of the Kenny Brimer Project. Kenny a local skateboarder who had been recently diagnosed with leukemia teamed up with Eighty Four Skate Co. to design a deck and tee to help raise funds for his bone marrow transplant. Aloha Friends! Just wanted to inform everyone of the "Boardjunkies" exhibit taking place this Friday December 4th @ the Blue Hawaii Gallery from 7pm-10pm. This exhibit features the extensive board collection of Mike Kays and friends. There will be over 130 boards on display ranging over 3 decades.
